Crime Statistics by Year

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, there were over 23,000 instances of burglary, larceny, destruction or vandalism of property, robbery, stolen property offenses and trespass of real property in 2007.

Shaun Griswold a reporter for The DAILY LOBO reported in May of 2010, "According to FBI statistics, Albuquerque had 31,994 property crimes reported to police in 2008. Denver had 19,316. El Paso had 19,702, even though the cities have comparable populations."

In the 2009 City Crime Rate Rankings researcher CQ Press ranked Albuquerque 72, and Rio Rancho 306 in the nation for crime out of the 393 cities ranked. The study took into account the area's population as well as the property and violent crimes reported in 2008.
